With fifteen months to go before the Denbighshire and District National Eisteddfod, the Eisteddfod Choir will meet for the first time on Friday 11 May at 19.00 at Capel Mawr, Denbigh, under the baton of choirmasters Beryl Lloyd Roberts and Ann Davies.
Eisteddfod Organiser, Hywel Wyn Edwards, said, “From the number of calls and queries we’ve been receiving about the Denbighshire and District Eisteddfod, it’s obvious that there’s a lot of interest in the choir for next year’s festival.
“The Eisteddfod Choir is an opportunity for singers from all corners of the catchment area – and further afield – to come together over the long winter evenings to prepare for a memorable concert on the Pavilion stage during the festival. This is the pinnacle of the community project for many, and it’s a great opportunity to socialise with friends and get to know like-minded people.
“Beryl Lloyd Roberts and Ann Davies are in charge of the Choir, and this is the third time for Beryl to be involved, following the success of the Choir when the Eisteddfod last visited the area in 2001 and her tireless work in 2007 in Flintshire.
“The Choir’s inaugural meeting is held on Friday 11 May at 19.00 at Capel Mawr, Denbigh. All are welcome – whether you’re an experienced singer or not. The choir will perform for the first time at the Proclamation Cymanfa Ganu, and details will be published closer to the time.”
The Denbighshire and District National Eisteddfod is held on Kilford Farm near Denbigh from 3-10 August 2013.
This year’s festival, the Vale of Glamorgan National Eisteddfod, is held on the old airfield at Llandow near Cowbridge and Llantwit Major from 4-11 August.
