Denbighshire’s award winning Vale of Clwyd Project, aimed at improving transport links in rural areas, has been shortlisted in the ‘Bus in the Countryside’ category in the 2010 UK Bus Awards.
Along with four other finalists, Denbighshire has been selected from among 200 highly competitive entries from across the country and the winners will be announced at the prestigious awards ceremony to be held at London’s Hilton Hotel on the 16th November.
The UK Bus Awards Scheme is designed to recognise and reward excellence and good practice in the operation, design and promotion of bus services. Its mission is also to use the inspiration of the winning projects to inspire others to emulate the winning schemes, projects or organisations.
Earlier this year, the Vale of Clwyd project won an award at the Wales Transport Awards, along with an award for partnership working across North Wales to improve behaviour on school transport.
Cabinet Lead Member for Environment, Councillor Sharon Frobisher, said: “I am delighted that this innovative Vale of Clwyd Project has been shortlisted for this award.
“The team has worked hard to enhance the service, from new accessible vehicles to improved demand-responsive and fixed routes services with the aim of achieving future sustainability.
“We will be keeping our fingers crossed for 16 November!”
