Denbighshire heads south to promote 2013 Eisteddfod

Visitors to the 2012 National Eisteddfod in the Vale of Glamorgan will have a taste of Denbighshire as the county gears up to stage next year’s prestigious festival.

The 2013 Eisteddfod will be held on the outskirts of Denbigh– the same location as the Eisteddfod when it last visited the county in 2001.

It is customary for the host county to have a presence at the preceding Eisteddfod, to showcase what they can offer, as well as providing details about tourist attractions, accommodation and days out in the county. The Denbighshire and District  stand can be found inside the Exhibition Hall on the Eisteddfod Maes.

Hywyn Williams, Denbighshire County Council’s Corporate Director for Customers, said: “This is an ideal opportunity for us to showcase Denbighshire to the thousands of people that will be visiting the Vale of Glamorgan next week (August 4-11).

“Many people will already be thinking where they can stay during the Eisteddfod week and where they can access activities and venture for days out. Pop in and see staff and volunteers on the Stand – they will be able to help point you in the right direction and assist with your enquiries.

“A lot of work has already gone on to prepare for next year’s festival, with representatives of the county council working closely with Eisteddfod officials, local communities and volunteers to arrange an event to remember.

“The proclamation ceremony held in June was a success and our attention now turns to the Denbighshire Eisteddfod in 2013. There’s a lot of work to do, but there’s a lot of enthusiasm and a willingness to showcase Denbighshire and its talents to the rest of Wales in twelve months time.”
