Denbighshire recycling and refuse service update: Friday 8th January

Despite the very cold weather Denbighshire County Council is striving to maintain all recycling and refuse collection services where they can be safely provided. The snow and ice has meant that it has been impossible to make collections in some of the more rural areas and where streets are on a gradient.

In some cases it has not been possible to collect because of the increased numbers of cars parked on the street. Where it is safe to do so, the Council would urge residents to park their vehicles on driveways so that services can continue.

With continued cold weather forecast the Council will continue to provide services according to the normal schedule where it is possible to do so. Therefore householders should continue to set out refuse and recycling on their usual day.

A further deterioration in weather would almost inevitably cause more disruption to collection services and the Council would recommend that householders check the Council’s website for further information where possible.

All four of Denbighshire’s Recycling Parks (Denbigh, Prestatyn, Rhyl and Ruthin) are currently open as normal though the Council would advise that, where possible, householders delay visiting until weather conditions are more favourable.

The Llangollen recycling service due to be provided between 9am and 11am on the morning of Saturday, 8th January will go ahead (provided weather conditions do not worsen overnight).

For residents on the x2 service that did not receive a grey bin collection this week, the Council will be trying to collect these during week commencing 11th January where the conditions permit. (This is in addition to the regular scheduled collections shown on your calendar.)

In what has been a difficult period for the recycling and refuse team, the Council would like to thank all residents for the patience and understanding that has been shown to its staff.
