Denbighshire shortlisted for top award

A Denbighshire Support and Accommodation Development Worker has been shortlisted for a top national award.

Debbie Nalecz is based with the Supporting People team and has been nominated by the Chartered Institute of Housing Welsh Housing Awards in the Delivering Customer Driven Services category for work done in providing direct support to young people who are not eligible for housing related support funded via the Supporting People Programme.

Feedback from customers about the success of the initiative can be found in the format of a DVD ‘Moving on Up’ which Debbie and a group of young people have produced.  This film highlights the needs of the customers and how Debbie is delivering a service that is led by those needs.

Debbie said, “I am delighted to have been shortlisted for this award.  The film has been an excellent way to highlight the issues that young people face and the services that they need to support them when trying to access their own accommodation.  I would like to thank my colleagues in the Supporting People team for identifying the need for my post and for the DVD in the first place. I would also like to thank Cymorth for funding the project, Tape for their role with filming and editing and all the young people involved.”

The Chartered Institue of Housing (CIH) Welsh Housing Awards were launched in 2007 and continue to grow year on year.
