Denbighshire transport advice

As the cold snap continues, Denbighshire would like to urge people to take extra care when out driving or walking in the icy conditions. The advice is don’t make a journey unless you have to.

Meanwhile, the Council has been out gritting roads and pavements as the cold weather continues to affect the region. Inevitably there will be some areas where staff have not been able to grit and people are urged to take extra care in these areas.

The Council has established a priority order for the clearance of ice and snow:

1. Main classified routes (A&B roads)
2. Access roads to hospital and emergency service station
3. The remainder of the salting network
Other routes known as urgent medical and important industrial routes
4. Access to public facilities – cemeteries, schools etc.
5. Other Class II and III roads providing access to communities
6. Remaining bus and milk collection routes
7. Other urban roads
8. Other rural roads
9. Roads serving isolated dwellings
10. Other roads

Iwan Prys-Jones, Corporate Director of Environment, said: “The gritters have been out throughout the wintry weather in line with published gritting schedules which are available on the Council’s website.

“In addition to this, Denbighshire will continue to do as much as possible to keep all roads and pathways clear in light of these circumstances.

“The temperature tonight is anticipated to drop below freezing again and I would urge people to take extra precautions in any ungritted areas and allow extra time for any journeys they may need to make.”

Residents are also being reminded to keep an eye on elderly neighbours, friends or relatives at this time to make sure they remain safe and well.
