Denbighshire Triple finalists for national housing “Oscars”

Denbighshire County Council has been shortlisted for three prestigious national housing awards by the Chartered Institute of Housing.

The council has been shortlisted in the category for ‘Outstanding Leadership by a Local Authority’ – “Affordable Housing policy”, “Developing and Regenerating Communities” and ”Delivering Customer Driven Services”.  The awards ceremony is being held in Cardiff in November 2010.

This is the culmination of a considerable amount of work undertaken by Planning, Housing, Legal, Supporting People and the Housing Associations – Cymdeithas Tai Clwyd, North Wales Housing, Pennaf Housing and Wales & West Housing Association.

Denbighshire is building on top of their success in 2007 when they won the prestigious accolade of the UK Housing Awards – “Providing Housing Choice and Affordability” in their Affordable Housing Strategy.

Councillor David Thomas, Cabinet Lead Member with responsibility for housing, said: “To be shortlisted for national honours at the national housing awards is a feather in the cap of the council and partner organisations that work tirelessly to improve the housing offer in the county.

“Reaching the shortlist is an honour in itself and we will be crossing our fingers that the honours will be coming back to Denbighshire next month”.
