DNA Wales Adwards Innovate School Project

Dr Paul Thomas, DNA Wales Founder from the Glamorgan Business School, recently visited and addressed pupils at St Josephs Catholic Junior School about the virtues of teamwork following a new and innovative school project that saw four primary school children work together in a formal team.

Following an approach from Head Teacher Michael Daley, DNA Wales’ Philip Crocker was invited to provide business advice and support to a fledgling school project where pupils had been asked to embark upon a small business venture that would enhance the school environment.

This initial invitation soon led to the project being formally adopted and supported by DNA Wales with direct guidance, support and advice provided throughout by the Glamorgan Business School’s Dr Paul Thomas.

The team of four pupils explored many potential options as they operated together as equal senior project partners. After a number of regular meetings and much discussion the team decided to design, develop and purchase artwork panels to brighten and enhance the school’s environment for staff, children and visitors.

Setting out a serious business plan with objectives, timescales and a framework for achieving their aims, the pupils developed their plan into a very impressive business case. After numerous presentations and a period of design for artwork the School recently installed the new artwork panels.

Following the successful completion of the school project Dr Thomas presented specially designed and framed DNA Wales Collaborative Certificates to each of the four children. All were thrilled to receive such prestigious business awards from DNA Wales in recognition of their work.
