Do you know Caerphilly’s volunteer hero?

Do you know an outstanding volunteer who works tirelessly to help others? If so, Caerphilly County Borough Council and GAVO would like to hear from you.

Nominations are now being sought for this year’s Voluntary Sector Achievement Awards, which recognise outstanding volunteers from across Caerphilly county borough for the valuable work they carry out within the community.

There are a number of award categories including young volunteer of the year, record breaking volunteer, environmental volunteer, fund raising volunteer, employer supported volunteer, inspirational volunteer, retired senior volunteer, practical service adult volunteer and new volunteer.

The deadline for nominations is Friday 16th April and it is hoped that this year’s event will once again attract worthy volunteers of all ages from all walks of life.

Individuals or groups (where appropriate) can be nominated for an award. The event, sponsored by Campaign Newspapers, is designed to reflect the vital and diverse role volunteers play in supporting and contributing to the well being of the community.

A special awards ceremony will take place on Wednesday 16th June 2010 at Caerphilly County Borough Council’s headquarters, Penallta House in Tredomen.
