Powys residents are asked to be aware that over the festive period there will be a few changes to waste and recycling kerbside collection dates. These are as follows:
Normal Day / Revised Day
Mon 21 Dec – Thu 24 Dec / No change
Fri 25 Dec / Sun 27 Dec
Mon 28 Dec – Thu 31 Dec / No change
Fri 1 Jan / Sat 2 Dec
Once the festivities are over, do your bit and help recycle as much of the Christmas waste as possible:
- Heavily foiled, glittery papers and foil bows and ribbons can’t be recycled, so try and avoid these where possible and use recycled wrapping paper. Remember, paper can’t be recycled if it still has sticky tape on.
- Prevent card waste by sending e-cards to friends and family. Paper cards can be added to your paper and cardboard kerbside collection or taken to one of the many community recycling collection sites.
- After the Christmas and New Year parties don’t just throw all those cans and bottles away – rinse them out and recycle them.
- Take your Christmas tree to one of the six household waste and recycling centres across Powys or to a green waste collection bank at some of the community recycling sites – remember to remove all the decorations first.
