Don’t Jump the Gun

Householders taking part in a new pilot food waste scheme are being urged not to jump the gun.

Around 6,000 households across the County are taking part in a trial run of Pembrokeshire County Council’s new food waste collection scheme.

Although specially designed food waste bins and kitchen caddy’s for unwanted food have already been distributed to those taking part in the pilot, the food waste collection service will not start until the week begining Monday September 7th.

Now the County Council’s refuge collection service is reminding people not to leave their food waste out too early as it will not be collected.

The pilot food waste collection scheme starts on Sept 7th when the food waste will be collected in specially designed vehicles, along with orange recycling bags, on householders’ designated rubbish collection day.

If the pilot project is successful the scheme will be rolled out across the County over the next 12 months.
