Following the successful tour of the play Never too late… around Anglesey and Gwynedd during Adult Learners’ Week in May, the Isle of Anglesey County Council hope that a second tour of the drama during September will inspire adults of all ages to learn new skills.
The bilingual production by Anglesey-based theatre company Shimli will be touring community venues around Anglesey during the last week in September (26th-30th).
Set in a local café, Never too late… follows three people thrown together after an exciting event in their town. The characters, played by Rhian Cadwaladr, Rhodri Siôn and Mared Elliw Huws, learn more about each other and find their chance meeting a source of support and inspiration.
Siwan Llynor, who directs the play and co-wrote the script with her partner in the Shimli theare venture Mared Elliw Huws said, “Never too late… is not about preaching to people. It’s a light-hearted drama which deals with the various learning opportunities out there for adults, whether they’re 18 or 80 years old. More importantly, it also focuses on the reasons why some people turn their back on learning and how they can overcome their concerns or fears to achieve and make more of their lives.”
Audiences will also have a part to play, sharing their thoughts and experiences about learning in a workshop which follows the performance.
Anglesey’s Lifelong Learning Co-ordinator Bethan Hughes-Jones added, “We hope to attract audiences from across the Island and from all backgrounds. We received great feedback and reviews for the first tour, and we’re hoping for a similarly favourable response this time around.”
