Drovers in seven-try heaven

Llandovery turned on the style to run over for seven tries when defeating Aberavon 52-34 in an entertaining display of handling and running rugby at Church Bank.

Inspired by Scarlets back row Josh Turnbull, the Drovers secured their four try bonus point in just the 23rd minute.

The Drovers went through an entire campaign last season without securing a bonus point for four tries but Turnbull put them on their way when he finished off a stunning Llandovery attack when some fans were still getting to their seats. Cerith Rees added the conversion to give the Drovers a perfect start.

The Wizards hit back with a penalty from Jamie Murphy but a purple patch from the home side saw the Drovers put clear daylight between the two sides.

Full-back Howard Thomas, centre Joe Ajuwa and hooker Emyr Phillips went over the whitewash with Aberavon replying through wing Chris Lewis and centre Luke Hathaway to make it 31-15 at the break.

Aberavon reduced the arrears soon after the re-start from No 8 Richard Morris but further tries from Thomas and centre Rhys Williams extended the home lead before Morris and Murphy replied for the Wizards.

Howard Thomas completed the match with a personal points tally of 16, with two tries and three conversions.
