Drugs arrest in Merthyr Tydfil

Police in Merthyr Tydfil have recovered a quantity of drugs following a search of a house.

A search warrant was carried out at the property in Heol Twyn Ddu where a number of plastic bags containing white powder were found.

Officers described this as a substantial amount of what is believed to be amphetamine sulphate.

A 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of amphetamine with intent to supply and has been bailed pending further enquiries including analysis of the white powder.

Police community support officers then informed local residents of the arrest by way of a leaflet drop the following day reassuring them that positive action is being taken to combat drugs and drug dealing in their community.

Sergeant Dean Gittoes said: “Drug dealing is a concern to the community therefore tackling this illegal activity is a priority for us and we will always act upon information received.”
