‘Dyro Wen’ exhibition goes on display

Local primary schools Ysgol Bro Cinmeirch, Ysgol Clocaenog, Ysgol Cyffylliog, Ysgol Henllan, Ysgol Llanfair Dyffryn Clwyd, Ysgol Pant Pastynog, Ysgol Pentrecelyn and Ysgol Tremeirchion will visit Ruthin Craft Centre between 5 July – 16 July to see the summer exhibition by 13 contemporary makers called Smile.

Following the gallery visit, pupils will work with Eleanor Glover and Jo Lawrence, 2 Smile artists included in the show, to produce artworks inspired by the exhibition. Children working with Eleanor will participate in a performance of her ‘Suitcase Shadow Theatre’ by providing the orchestra of homemade sounds. They will then make shadow puppets to use in their own performance. Those working with Jo Lawrence will make puppets inspired by the work in the gallery, which they will then animate to produce a short film.

An exhibition of the children’s work, produced during the two week project, will be displayed in the Residency Studios at Ruthin Craft Centre from 7 August – 12 September. There will be an event to celebrate this project working with local schools on Tuesday 7 September from 3.45pm – 5pm.

This event is funded by the Arts Council of Wales and the Thomas Howell Education Fund for North Wales.
