A series of events has been arranged to boost Swansea city centre footfall over Easter.
An Easter-themed event on Oxford Street on Tuesday April 3 and the return of the European-style market are among the attractions shoppers can look forward to.
The Easter-themed event will include an Easter garden, an Easter bunny and an Easter maiden who will be on hand to tell stories to children.
An Easter egg hunt has also been organised. Many shops will have clues in their windows as part of the hunt to both join in the fun and encourage shoppers to discover their wares.
Face-painting and card-making activities have been organised and children will have the chance to get up close to farm animals thanks to a visit from Swansea Community Farm.
Swansea Council’s Play Bus will park-up to offer other play opportunities for children.
Swansea Council is behind the event. It will last from 10am to 4pm.
The Council has also arranged for the return of the European-style market on Oxford Street from Wednesday April 4 to Saturday April 7. The market will be made up of 27 stalls making up the the best produce from across the continent.
French cheese and crepes, Italian biscuits, Spanish paella, olives and a range of speciality ingredients will all be available.
Italian leather products, French jewellery and china from across Europe will also be on sale.
Children visiting Swansea Market have a chance to win their height in Easter eggs up until Saturday March 31 thanks to a competition.
All children have to do is to count how many Easter eggs they can find dotted around the market. Entry forms are available from all market stalls.
Daniel Jones, Swansea City Centre Manager, said: “We’re always trying to arrange events in the city centre to boost footfall for traders and generate a shopper-friendly atmosphere.
“City centres are more than just about the retail offer nowadays. It’s also important that the visitor experience leaves a positive impression that encourages people to return in future.
“This is why events of this nature are so important.”
