Gaynor Coley, the Managing Director of the world-renowned Eden Project will be the keynote speaker at the annual dinner of the South Wales Society of Chartered Accountants next month.
Gerald Russell, President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), is the other principal guest at the dinner which takes place in the Banqueting Hall of Cardiff Castle on Thursday, October 14th.
Gay has a passion for education as a tool of transformation and after growing up in the Newport area studied Economics at London University.
She went into the City to understand how to unlock resources and qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Touche Ross. She moved to the West Country in 1987 and was voted Best Chartered Accountant in the 2005 ICAEW Regional Awards.
In 2009 Gay received the CBI Real Business First Women Award in Tourism and Leisure. She is currently leading the strategy to extend Eden’s influential environmental brand and programmes across the world.
David Lermon, Wales director of the ICAEW, said: “We’re delighted that Gay has accepted an invitation to our annual dinner. She has been an inspirational leader at the Eden Project and members are looking forward to hearing from her.”
The Eden Project in Cornwall has attracted over 10 million visitors and has been a major economic engine, adding over £900m to the local economy.
