Enterprise Week 2011 at Aberystwyth University

To mark Global Entrepreneurship Week, Aberystwyth University will be running a series of events open to students, graduates and staff from the 14th – 18th November 2011.

For individuals with an interest in starting their own business, the Graduate Start-up Support (GSS) Taster Session being held on Monday 14th November, will provide an overview of the issues and processes involved with setting up a new enterprise.

On Tuesday 15th November a local Social Entrepreneur will discuss the setting up and running of a successful Community enterprise in rural Mid Wales.

Students – why not start the day on Wednesday 16th with a FREE ‘bacon butty’ at the Crisalis Enterprise Club networking event?  Join our Enterprise Manager and Student Interns, hone your networking skills and meet others with an interest in ‘Enterprise’ over a light breakfast. This event will also mark the launch of the 2011 Crisalis Enterprise Network ‘£100 for 100 words’ student ideas competition.

Join the Enterprise team on Thursday 17th for some ‘Monkey Business’ with local entrepreneur, Laurence Hall.  The Great Primate Handshake, founded by Laurence, raises awareness of primate sanctuaries and conservation programmes through producing video, web and media content for communities, schools and people across the globe. Find out how the business organises expeditions, involving volunteers who learn new production skills, work directly with primate sanctuaries and research ways in which they can work together to reverse the decline of primates across Africa.

On Friday 18th, students are invited to look forward and find out about forthcoming enterprise opportunities.  Might you be interested in the possibility of becoming a Crisalis Student Intern in 2012, representing Aberystwyth University at a national enterprise competition (FLUX) or attending future Business Start-up Weeks in December or June?   If so, sign up for this informative Crisalis Enterprise Club briefing event.

Throughout the week look out for our Enterprise Stand ‘On Tour’ around campus.    Drop by for further information on the week’s events, meet our Student Interns and try out the ‘Enterprise Catalyst Tool’ to discover whether you have what it takes to become an entrepreneur.

“Whether you have a specific business idea in mind; are interested in enhancing your entrepreneurial skills; or are keen to discover more about self employment through hearing first hand from successful entrepreneurs, there is an event  which may be of interest to you” explained Tony Orme, Enterprise Manager, Commercialisation and Consultancy Services.
