Exciting Elmer Entertainment at Caerphilly County Libraries

IMG_6966Children and adults went ‘crazy for colour’ at Newbridge Library on Tuesday 10 June, with storytelling, crafts and games to celebrate the 25th anniversary of ‘Elmer the Patchwork Elephant’.

There was special story time where children heard all about the mischief and adventures Elmer and his colourful cast of friends have in the jungle, as they face exciting challenges and get to know all the animals.  Budding artists got creative and made their own Elmer masks so they could look as amazingly multi-coloured as the patchwork elephant himself.

Throughout the county borough hundreds of children have spent weeks drawing, painting, cutting and sticking to create the most colourful pictures of Elmer they can as part of a competition taking place at Newbridge, Abercarn and Risca libraries, where the colourings and collages are now proudly on display.
