Exciting new community venture officially opened

An exciting new community venture was opened by newly re-elected Assembly Member Darren Millar at the weekend.

Darren Millar, AM for Clwyd West, opened ‘Snax in the Park’, a community café in Min Y Don Park which has been set up by the United Reformed Church in Old Colwyn. The Church, also known as the Church in the Park, has converted a large room in the church campus into a café where snacks will be served to members of the community frequenting the adjacent park. The project cost around £60,000 and funding was secured by a grant from the United Reformed Church Synod of Wales Mission Development Fund, with the remainder raised by worshippers at the Church.

Speaking after the event, Darren said:

‘I was absolutely delighted to officially open Snax in the Park this afternoon.’

‘Today’s opening has taken two years of planning and preparation by members of the United Reformed Church and I want to congratulate all those who have worked so hard to make Snax in the Park happen.

‘Not only will Snax in the Park provide much needed refreshment for the local community visiting the park, it will also raise money for local good causes and I understand that proceeds from today’s event will be donated to Ty Gobaith in the Conwy Valley. I’m delighted the Church has chosen to support such a fantastic good cause.

‘I wish the project every success for the future.’
