Fairwater Businesses Continue to Get Creative

Fairwater Workshops, managed and owned by Cardiff Council, are continuing to attract new creative industry companies.

The service, situated on Norbury Road, forms part of the property portfolio offered to small businesses in Cardiff who are looking for a facility to make their base.

In recent months several companies from the creative industry sector have become tenants at the site, providing services such as recording, editing and voice-overs.

Creative Industries are becoming increasingly important to the economy in Cardiff and a significant amount of the city’s workforce are employed in the sector which includes film, TV, new media, printing and publishing.

Fairwater Workshops are part of a portfolio of business premises across Cardiff managed by the Council’s Business and Investment Team.

The sites offer small start up premises for companies aiming to develop the early stages of their business.

Some premises are designed to house specific creative industry companies, which encourage them to network and engage with each other.

Tenants also benefit from direct contact with Cardiff Council Business Development Officers who offer business advice and support.

Cllr Neil McEvoy, Deputy Leader and Executive Member for Economic Development said:  “Fairwater Workshops give a unique offer to small businesses within the creative industries sector.

“The site is very much sought after as the facility gives those businesses the ideal platform to start and develop their businesses creating local employment opportunities.

“The creative industries are a key sector in Cardiff and I am pleased we have Council facilities encouraging enterprise in the city.”
