Family tribute to Ffion Wyn Roberts

The family of Ffion Wyn Roberts have appealed for anyone with any information about their daughter’s death to contact North Wales Police immediately.

Ffion’s parents, Idris and Bethan, and younger brother Elgan, speaking at their home in Porthmadog, said that the 22 year old’s ambition had been to become a nurse in the Army.

Her father, Idris, said: “Ffion was thoughtful and caring and always put others before herself. She went into caring and had found her niche caring for others.”

Ffion had worked for the past three years as a carer at a local residential home and before that had worked in another local nursing home.

Ffion’s grandfather, Hughie Jones, said: “Ffion was a lovely grandaughter, we used to go on trips together, and she was always thoughtful and did so much for me.”

A former pupil of Ysgol Borth y Gest and Ysgol Eifionydd, Ffion had a passion for football and was a regular at Porthmadog FC matches where she also worked in the canteen in the club house.

A two minute silence will be marked in Ffion’s memory at the club’s next match.

Her father said: “Everton was her team; she loved the football, loved life and lived her life to the full. We as a family want people to come forward, to go to the police and tell them anything they know which may help. As a family we would also ask that the media respect our need for privacy at this very difficult time.”

North Wales Police are continuing house to house enquires in the town and over 100 police officers yesterday (Monday) following up various lines of investigation.

Detective Superintendent Peter Chalinor, the Senior Investigating Officer, said: “At the present time no one has been arrested. We are following up all information and we will look at every avenue in search of the truth as to what happened to Ffion.”

Ffion was last seen in the Union Public House, Tremadog, at about 3.30 am on Saturday, April 9. She would have travelled home along Church Street to Porthmadog and North Wales Police are anxious to speak to anyone who may have seen her.

Anyone who was in Tremadog or Porthmadog between 9pm on Friday, April 9, and 8am on Saturday, April 10, is asked to contact the incident room on 01745 538474 or to contact the Force on 101.
