Fatal house fire in Tyn-y-Gongl, Anglesey

A child has died following a fire at a house in Tyn-y-Gongl, Anglesey, during the early hours of this morning (Wednesday, 30th June).

It has been confirmed that the child who died in a house fire in Tyn y Gongl on Anglesey in the early hours of this morning is a boy aged six and that the two people who remain unaccounted for are believed to be his mother who is in her 40s and his brother aged 10.

Owing to the severity of the damage to the property, it is likely to be some time until a joint investigation by North Wales Fire and Rescue Service and North Wales Police will be able to confirm if the two people unaccounted for are in the building.

Emergency services were called to the detached bungalow at Tyn y Gongl near Marianglas at 00.49 hours.

Two fire appliances from Amlwch, one from Benllech and one from Llangefni, together with the incident command unit from Rhyl and the technical rescue unit from Caernarfon attended the scene following reports of a serious fire. North Wales Police and the Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust are also in attendance.

Crews arrived to find the property well alight. Two sets of breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets and a main jet were used to extinguish the fire.

The cause of the fire is not yet known and is being investigated jointly by North Wales Fire and Rescue Service and North Wales Police. The property has been severely damaged in the incident.
