Ferndale residents invited to see important road safety plans

An important and essential road safety scheme in Ferndale is set to be unveiled to residents on June 8.

Rhondda Cynon Taf Council has organised a public exhibition to allow people to view the road safety plans for their community.

The new scheme, work on which is set to begin in Autumn, will include 20mph zones, speed humps near Darran Park Primary School and YGG Llyn-y-Forwyn/Duffryn County Infants Schools.

It will also see a section of Frederick Street turned into a one-way system and a signal-controlled puffin crossing in High Street, adjacent to the Co-Operative.

The road safety work is being funded by the Welsh Assembly Government, and will be delivered for the community by Rhondda Cynon Taf Council.

Cllr Andrew Morgan, Cabinet Member for Customer Care and Transport, said: “This is an important scheme and one that will increase road safety in Ferndale.

“We have worked hard to put together an extensive plan of action that covers a number of areas, such as speed limits and crossings.

“We look forward to welcoming residents to the event on June 8.”

See the plans for yourself at the Trerhondda Chapel, High Street, Ferndale between 10am and 7pm on Tuesday June 8.
