Find out who you are with Gwynedd archives

With the interest in family history growing and growing, inspired by programmes like Who Do You Think You Are? and easy internet access to census records, Gwynedd Council’s Archives Service has arranged a series of taster sessions to get people started.


The one day courses will be held at the Caernarfon Record Office and Meirionnydd Record Office and led by the Council’s staff.

You’ll get advice on how to get started on tracing your family history, take a look at the sources on offer and get to ask archivists your burning genealogy questions.

Day courses, ‘Tracing Your Family History’ are in the Meirionnydd Record Office, Dolgellau on the following dates:

Saturday, December 12, one-day Family History Course in English staring at 10.30am

Saturday, December 16, one-day Family History Course in Welsh at Meirionnydd Record Office staring at 10.30am

Day courses will also be held at Caernarfon Record Office on the following dates:

Saturday, January 16, 2010, one-day family history course in Welsh on at Caernarfon Record Office starting at 10.30am

January 18, 2010 One-day Family History Course in English on Monday, at Caernarfon Record Office starting at 10.30am

Taster courses will also be held at Caernarfon Record Office, a brief introductory course aimed at those who have not previously used a record office.

Saturday, January 30, 2010 What is in your local record office? in Welsh course at Caernarfon Record Office from 10am to 12pm.

Saturday, January 30, 2010, Introductory Course: What is in your local record office? in English in Caernarfon Record Office from 2pm to 4pm.
