Finding funding in a fun way

During the current climate it can be increasingly difficult for community and voluntary groups to find funding, this is why on Thursday February 25, Communities First, in Partnership with Voluntary Action Cardiff and Cardiff Council Corporate Grants Section will host a special funding day.

Representatives of groups and organisations are invited to come along to the event at The Jasmine Centre, on Cowbridge Road, between 9.30am and 3pm where they will find plenty of information and advice on offer about funding options.

The day will bring together a variety of organisations including Sports Council for Wales, the Big Lottery Fund, the Communities First Trust Fund, and the Heritage Lottery Fund who will be on hard to offer advice on funding available.

The event is the biggest free funding event in Cardiff, with over 150 people expected to come along to find out how their community project can benefit.

The day will be a mixture of workshops, activities and of course a chance for groups to meet and talk about their project ideas.

Executive Member for Communities, Housing and Social Justice, Cllr Judith Woodman, said: ”Funding is critical to the success of many community and voluntary groups in Cardiff; this is why it is so important that we hold funding events like these. The day will bring together organisations across Cardiff whose aim is to make sure worthwhile community and voluntary projects receive funding, and this year I am pleased to hear that it is not just groups in Communities First areas that will benefit from the funding day.

“I would encourage representatives from groups and organisations to come along and find out more.”

Workshop attendees will be provided with lunch while tea, coffee and light refreshments will also be available throughout the day.  Anyone interested in attending the event should contact Voluntary Action Cardiff (VAC) to complete a booking form. A booking form is available to download from VAC’s website www.vacardiff.org.uk, by emailing [email protected] or via telephone on 029 2048 5722.

Transport from some Communities First areas in the city may be available for eligible parties to be able to attend. Please contact Voluntary Action Cardiff for further information.
