Firearm Incident in Llysfaen

Police were called at 11.41am yesterday  (9/12/10) to a property in Llysfaen following the discovery by contractors of what is believed to be a firearm.

Officers attended and a search was later conducted of the property as a result of which two hand grenades were discovered. The bomb disposal squad were called to assess the items and they were found to be ornamental and not live devices. A man was later arrested in connection with the Police investigation into the firearm and enquiries are continuing.

Supt Andy Jenks-Gilbert of the North Wales Police said “The safety of the public was our priority throughout the incident. The matter was swiftly and safely concluded. Whilst we will be fully investigating the circumstances of this event, I would like to reassure the community of Llysfaen that we are satisfied that there is no threat to the public from this incident.”
