First non-fiction day celebrated in county

The first celebration of National Non-fiction Day in Pembrokeshire was held at Ysgol Gelli Aur/ Golden Grove Community School, in Pembroke.

There was a large and enthusiastic turn-out of pupils for the event, which was held on November 4th.

Author and zoologist, Nicola Davies told children of her early experiences with animals and how they inspired her writing.

She taught the audience how to create a rainforest sound landscape and they then learned the songs of the humpback whale.

The evening was drawn to a close by storyteller, Michael Harvey, who enthralled the audience with tales of birds and storytelling.

The event was sponsored by Pembrokeshire County Council and the West Wales Children’s Book Group.
