Fisherman’s family and friends remember Flint RNLI lifeboat station

Adam Jackson died from cancer at the age of 39 on 17 January 2010, and his family and friends decided to celebrate his life, and raise funds for a worthy cause.

Adam’s former band Beluga, who had played at The Cavern, The Tivoli, and Wrexham’s Central Station agreed to reform for a charity concert at Mcleans in Pentre.

Band members Pete Fielder-Shaw, Joel Sprason, Roy Oldfield, and John Colclough, were joined by another local band, Go Cart Commandos.

Pete said: ‘Beluga played a lot of their old tunes, and also a new number written in honour of Adam entitled ‘Amber Star.’ We were really pleased to reunite as a tribute to Adam, it would have made him really proud.’

Adam’s sister Julie Bennett said: ‘It was a memorable evening, memories that will live with all the family forever, we are can’t thank enough Beluga, Go Cart Commandos, and the 150 friends who turned up to support Adam’s wife Marie, and sons Chris, Adam and Gavin, and all the family in this tribute.’

Julie continued: ‘We are delighted to be presenting the proceeds of the concert to the RNLI at Flint. Adam was a keen fisherman, and supported the work of the RNLI and I was amazed to learn that the volunteers at Flint RNLI have had 13 calls already in 2010, they do an amazing job, and I know they are looking for more volunteer crew who live or work in Flint.’
