Flint Communities First has set up an Action Group to tackle community safety issues in Flint Castle ward.
A meeting on April 14 was attended by local residents, representatives from the Police, Neighbourhood Watch, Flintshire County Council’s Youth Service and the Housing Department.
The new group has three main aims:
- To increase the perception of safety in Flint Castle ward
- To consult with local residents to find out their concerns
- To work together to develop and deliver action plans to tackle the problems raised.
In a recent survey carried out by Communities First residents, ranging in age from 11 to 95 years, said that they were worried about dog fouling and litter, anti social behaviour and problems linked to consumption of excess alcohol.
In response to the survey the Action Group has pledged to begin by tackling the issues of dog fouling and alcohol related problems.
Michelle Turner, Chair of the Communities First Partnership Board, said: “This initiative is about local people and agencies including the police, working together, sharing ideas and resources to tackle issues at a local level”.
