Flint lifeboat launches to boat adrift

Flint RNLI lifeboat volunteers didn’t have long to wait for their first call of 2010 as several members of the public called Liverpool Coastguard to alert them of a boat adrift in the River Dee north of Flint lifeboat Station.

Flint lifeboat Sir Y Flint launched from Greenfield and soon located the boat, which had no name, and was not known to the lifeboat crew.

There were no occupants on board and in difficult conditions a tow was attached. The boat was towed back to the slipway at Greenfield and placed on a mooring.

Liverpool coastguard was made aware of the situation and the lifeboat was ready for service at 12.55pm.

Alan Forrester, Flint RNLI Lifeboat Operations Manager said: ‘The lifeboat crew did a good job in difficult conditions. The first call of the New Year certainly came early in 2010.’
