A first for this year’s Flintshire Business Week has been hailed a success by the companies who took part.
Flintshire Business Week 2011 included a two day exhibition for the first time, which was hosted by Deeside-based company, ConvaTec. Over the two days, over 1000 delegates from around the region visited the Exhibition, and over 70 exhibitors, from Flintshire, Denbighshire, Wrexham, Cheshire and Conwy, took part.
Seminars ran in parallel with the exhibition, with talks from business leaders including Dr Roy Bichan from the North Wales Economic Forum; David Rosser from the CBI; Professor Brian Morgan from Cardiff University; Jo Tipa, from the National Skills Academy for Nuclear; Clive Prentice from Hawker Beechcraft corporation; Phil Millward from General Motors UK Ltd; and David Jones from Deeside College. Procurement apprentices from Airbus also gave a presentation. There were facilitated factory tours around ConvaTec and Toyota.
Councillor Matt Wright, Executive Member for Regeneration and Tourism, said:
“This two day event was a great success, and one of the highlights of this year’s Flintshire Business Week. The Exhibition was not only a first for the Week, but also a first for North East Wales, so we’re pleased that it’s been received so well by the business community.
“We’ve had great feedback from the companies who came along, who tell us that they would take part in a similar event in future, and that they all had significant leads to follow up as a result of the Exhibition. Our record attendances to Business Week events this year prove that it’s vital that companies have a platform to network and share ideas and that’s what Flintshire Business Week is all about.”
Jo Graham, Director of Operations, UK, at ConvaTec said:
“ConvaTec was proud to host the two-day exhibition which was a first for Flintshire Business Week. It was exciting to be involved in this business event, as we believe it is important to connect and work closely with the local business community.
“We were also delighted to sponsor the Business Person of the Year Award again this year. We want to support innovative business and people, and therefore we were delighted to award Business Person of the Year to Collin Singer of Wagtail UK Ltd.
“Thank you to our team who have been involved in Flintshire Business Week projects and have really surpassed themselves in the organising of this unique exhibition, in partnership with Flintshire County Council.”
