RCT Theatres, in association with Grapevine Music, are delighted to present the Welsh premiere performances of the astonishingly talented Rebecca and Megan Lovell together with Daniel Kimbro on bass and Chad Melton on drums making up Larkin Poe.
Larkin Poe come to Theatr Mwldan on Wednesday 30th November hard on the heels of some major European concerts performed with one of their biggest admirers – Elvis Costello. Elvis has recognised that 19 and 20 year old Rebecca and Megan are already the real deal :- “I first saw them steal everyone’s thunder at the opening night of Merlefest in 2007. Already gifted as instrumentalists and having a head start on the rest of us….”
A string of English dates earlier this year saw many well-respected musos reaching for new superlatives and the band won over many new admirers with their highly distinctive mix of Americana, folk, bluegrass, rock’n’roll – in the process creating something new and genuinely exciting.

While featuring mandolin and dobro, this is not Bluegrass. Electric guitar, bass and drums don’t make it Rock ‘n Roll either. Un-pop like melodies and arrangements don’t make it Jazz. iTunes calls it Folk, but that isn’t it either. Take a bit of all of this and stir it up. In lesser hands it might be chaos.
