Flintshire County Council’s new Streetscene service has been launched

The public can now contact a range of services on a single telephone number – 01352 701234. Previously people have had to use different telephone numbers and contact different departments in the Council about roads, refuse, litter and a wide range of other street related services.

The new improved service, launched at the Council’s Alltami Depot on 5 March will simplify things for customers, providing a single telephone contact number with dedicated, trained staff taking responsibility for handling all street related enquiries made by telephone or email.

The public can now report issues including, abandoned cars, dead animals on the road, dog fouling, fly-tipping, graffiti, discarded needles and syringes, litter bins on 01352 701234. They can also contact this number with queries about refuse and recycling collections, car parks, public toilets, road signs, flooding, gritting, street lighting and grass cutting.

Contact can also be made via the Council’s web site on www.flintshire.gov.uk/streetscene.

Chief Executive, Colin Everett said: “This is a new way to provide better and quicker services for the whole of the ‘streetscene’ in which people live. We are proud and excited to launch the new single contact service.”

Executive Member for Environment Councillor Tony Sharps said:

“Streetscene is about modernising the way we do things and meeting the needs and expectations of the public at a time of great demand on our resources. I am confident that these new arrangements will see an improved service to residents whilst reducing running costs and protecting jobs. It will also improve the quality of service for the public and reduce costs by the more efficient use of resources.”

Councillor Nancy Matthews, Executive member for Waste said: “Streetscene will introduce flexibility to the service, allowing employees to move from one service area to another to cover holidays and sickness thereby reducing the need to employ agency workers. The new arrangements will also extend the availability of services to the public.”
