Flintshire County Council’s Deputy Leader is new chairman of the Taith Joint Transport Board

Councillor Tony Sharps, Deputy Leader of Flintshire County Council, has been elected Chairman of ‘Taith’. ‘Taith’ is a consortium of all the North Wales Local Authorities, working in partnership with the Welsh Assembly Government, to deliver substantial and significant improvements to public transport across the region.

Councillor Sharps said:

“This appointment is not only a huge honour for myself, but also for Flintshire County Council. Taith has a massive budget for all kinds of transport and the money, in partnership with the Welsh Assembly Government, must be spent wisely to assist industry and tourism, in particular to address heavily congested areas in North Wales in a sustainable way.”

Taith, which means journey in Welsh, was established to prioritise the transport needs of North Wales, including railways, buses, roads, cyclepaths and other aspects of transport.
