FRAME Partnership Wins Award

FrameA Pembrokeshire charity has won an award for its partnership work with Pembrokeshire County Council.

Pembrokeshire FRAME won the Best Partnership Category in the Resource Awards announced in London earlier this month.

The awards highlight achievements by social enterprises and charities operating in the waste and recycling industry.

It’s the second award to recognise the partnership that has been forged between the charity and the Council.

Last month the Council won the best Local Authority Partnership in Wales award for its work with FRAME at the annual Recycling Awards.

Pembrokeshire FRAME holds the contract with the County Council for the collection of bulky household waste items.

It enables unwanted domestic household items to be collected and sorted for re-use or recycling rather than be taken to landfill sites.

“To receive national recognition for this partnership and the good work that is being done is fantastic,” said Councillor Ken Rowlands, Cabinet Member for Environmental and Regulatory Services.

“We are absolutely delighted that FRAME are recipients of the award –  the second award received by this partnership in the last six weeks.

“Our partnership with FRAME provides social, community, financial and environmental benefits, which have been recognised by this win.”

Daniel Sims, Project Co-ordinator at FRAME said they were delighted to receive the award.

“We hope to use the prize money to develop a new exciting paint re-use scheme, which will divert more materials from the County’s Civic Amenity and Recycling Centres,” he said.

Since the contract with FRAME has been in place nearly 19,000 items of furniture have been reused or recycled across the County.

Over the last year FRAME had provided work practice and training to 191 people and provided employment for 24 people.

And, as well as being open to the general public for pre-used furniture and household items, FRAME also supports disadvantaged households with over 800 families benefiting from free or low cost packages of furniture last year.
