The future looks bright for Groundwork Caerphilly following the announcement of a major funding boost for the environmental charity.
This week, the Welsh Assembly Government gave the green light to a £300,000 grant from the Community Facilities and Activities Programme (CFAP), which will allow the development of new training facilities at Groundwork Caerphilly’s Ty Mynyddislwyn base in Pontllanfraith.
This follows the recent grant of over £730,000 from the Big Lottery Fund which allowed Groundwork Caerphilly to take ownership of the Ty Mynyddislwyn building from Caerphilly County Borough Council.
More than £1million has now been secured to facilitate the transfer and refurbishment of the building and plans can now progress to establish an innovative ‘Environment Centre’ at the site. The new facility will offer activities including employment and training advice, environmental volunteering and the promotion of sustainability.

Cllr Ron Davies, CCBC Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Countryside added, ” We were delighted to transfer the historic Ty Mynyddislwyn building over to our partners at Groundwork Caerphilly and this latest funding announcement provides the last piece of the jigsaw to allow their plans to proceed.”
