Get a grant to make your event great

The economic importance of successful events on the Isle of Anglesey, be they large or small, cannot be overestimated.

Not only do they highlight what the Island has to offer in terms of its many attractions, but they also extend and add value to the tourist season.

The Isle of Anglesey County Council is now accepting applications for the Anglesey Events Grant 2010/11. The closing date for applications is Monday, 19th April, 2010.

Head of Economic Development, Sasha Davies, explained, “The Island already boasts a whole range of quality events which draw numerous visitors every year. The Anglesey Events Grant is designed to help organisers ensure that they’re able to improve their events, making them bigger and better.”

She added, “We will be able to provide grant funding of up to £1,000 for events which meet specific criteria which will help enhance the event experience and ensure that visitors continue to spend in our communities.”

Economic Development portfolio holder, Councillor Bryan Owen, urged all those on the island who arrange various events to make an application.

He explained, “Since the Fund was set-up, we’ve been able to support numerous events across Anglesey, including the Anglesey Beer Festival, Rhosneigr Festival, Menai Strait Raft Run and Amlwch Copperfest.

All event organisers making an application will be informed of the outcome in writing by 26th April 2010.
