Get fit and have fun through dodgeball and dance

A fantastic new club, aimed at increasing fitness levels in young people will be launched today (Tuesday 16th February) in Ystrad Mynach.

The Ystrad Mynach Physical Activity Club will be launched by Leader of Council, Cllr Lindsay Whittle at Ystrad Mynach Boys and Girls Club from 4pm.

The first of its kind in the borough, the club, which is being established by Ystrad Mynach Community Partnership, will offer the opportunity for young people aged between seven and seventeen to get fit and have fun through taking part in dodgeball and dance sessions.

The weekly sessions will begin on Tuesday 23rd February, however young people are being encouraged to come along to today’s launch event to try out taster sessions of dodgeball and dance for FREE.

As of 23rd February, the dodgeball classes will run from 5.30pm-6.30pm and the dance classes will run from 6.30pm-7.30pm. Dodgeball class will cost £1 and dance class £1.50. However, if participants choose to stay for both classes, it will cost them just £2 for both.

Special guests, Phoenix Dance Group will feature at tomorrow’s launch event, there will be free refreshments available and participants will also have the chance to win £25 in sports vouchers.

The club is also looking for local volunteers, aged sixteen or over, who are interested in gaining experience or qualifications in sport/fitness or working with young people, to help with the weekly running of the club.
