Get in the festive spirit with Carols and Candlelight

Talented music students from Cardiff University will be spreading some Christmas cheer next Thursday (8 December) in aid of Shelter Cymru.

Organised by Samantha Maskrey, one of the charity’s vice presidents, the annual Carols and Candlelight event at the Norwegian Church in Cardiff Bay is now in its 13th year.

Guests can look forward to a mix of solos and group performances as well as joining in with some favourite Christmas classics.

Among the guests will be internationally renowned sporano and fellow Shelter Cymru vice president Rebecca Evans, who recently joined Bryn Terfel, Cerys Matthews and a host of special guests for the charity’s 30th birthday concert at St David’s Hall.

Andrew Jones of Shelter Cymru said: “There is never a ‘good’ time for anyone to be threatened with homelessness, but Christmas is a time when we are more acutely aware of the importance of a safe and secure home.

“Events like Carols by Candlelight are so important in helping to get our messages across as well as raising vital funds to support our homelessness prevention work throughout the year.

“The Norwegian Church is a perfect setting for Carols by Candlelight, which has become one of our most popular events. We just hope that other guests won’t feel too shy to sing with Rebecca Evans in their midst!”

A small number of tickets are still available and can be purchased by contacting Shelter Cymru 01792 469400. Refreshments are included and tickets cost £15 each.
