Get your shoes on for new charity run

People in Wrexham are being urged to get their running gear on and sign up to take part in the inaugural Mayor’s Charity Fun Run.

The event which is taking place at 1pm on Sunday, April 18 has been organised by Wrexham County Borough Council and The Mayor Councillor Arwel Gwyn Jones in aid of The Mayor’s Charity, The Year of the Child.

The 5km route, starting and finishing at Ysgol y Grango Rhos, is suitable for all, whether you want to run or walk.

The Mayor of Wrexham, Councillor Arwel Gwyn Jones said: “Whether you want to enjoy a gentle stroll or fancy yourself as a future 2012 Olympian there is something for everyone at The Mayor’s Charity Fun Run or Walk! It is in aid of a good cause and I encourage everyone from Wrexham to take part! It is a great way of raising money for charity and having fun at the same time.”

Entry in advance costs £5 for ages 11 and over, or it’s £7 on the day. There is also a Children’s Fun Run at 12.30pm for anyone under 11 who wants to get involved – entry is free. Everyone is welcome and there will be medals for all who cross the finish line.
