Glam fundraiser helps heroes in style

Budding hairdressers at Coleg Gwent’s Ebbw Vale Campus who cut, coloured and styled their way to raising money for charity proudly presented a £500 cheque to Help for Heroes this week.

Hairdressing students rolled out the red carpet for their annual hair show earlier this term, organising a night of Hollywood glamour, rock and circus-inspired style in aid of the charity.

The Level 3 students presented the cheque to Help for Heroes representatives David and Pauline Gatward, who thanked students and staff for their support.

Hairdressing student Carl Davies, 20 from Crickhowell, said: “Pauline and David gave us a brilliant presentation before we started fundraising, giving us an insight into the amazing work being done by the charity, and what we could do to help.

“Their visits really personalised the experience for us, and spurred us on to raise £500, far exceeding our expectations!”

“The group are delighted to be able to donate £500 to such a great cause, helping wounded service personnel,” said Hairdressing Lecturer Helena Bassett.

“It was a group decision to support the charity, and students took on the organisation of the hair show themselves with support from staff members.

“Thanks to everyone who donated and took part to make the event a success.”
