The University of Glamorgan Business were well represented in the prestigious 23rd British Academy of Management (BAM) conference held in the Brighton Conference Centre between the 15 and 17th September. The conference encompassed 600 academics from 210 different institutions with a huge range of nationalities in attendance.
Three University of Glamorgan Business School staff presented papers. Dr Simon Brooks doctoral cluster leader presented a paper entitled ”“The straightjacket of economic rationality in the CSR discourse: what can be learned from the sociology of economic behaviour”. This paper won best paper in the corporate social responsibility track.
Dr Paul Jones, Divisional Head of Enterprise and Economic Development presented 2 papers entitled “E-Commerce Trading: Traditional and E-Commerce trading practices compared” co-authored with Professor Paul Beynon-Davies of Cardiff Business School and Dr Gary Packham of University of Glamorgan.
The second paper entitled “Governance and Negotiation Context Revisited” was co-authored with academics from two Australian Universities. Jayne Woodman a PhD researcher within the Business School authored a paper entitled “Stakeholder Perspectives of CSR: A Qualitative Study of SMEs in South Wales”.
Monica Gibson-Sweet, Dean of Glamorgan Business School commented “Presentation within such conferences such as BAM allows Glamorgan Business School academics to highlight and further develop the innovative applied research being undertaken within the School. Moreover, it enables academics to network with academics worldwide which will further drive collaborative study and enhance the University of Glamorgan’s international research reputation”.
