Good luck message to Cardiff half marathon runners

Cardiff Council have wished all participants in this years Cardiff Half Marathon good luck.

Thousands of runners are expected to descend on the capital city this Sunday and Executive Member for Sport, Culture and Leisure, Cllr Nigel Howells is calling on people to show their support and cheer on the runners. He said: “The race certainly tests the stamina of even the most experienced runner and I know having the crowd’s support makes a big difference to the runners taking part.”

The race is now in its seventh year and has become both a top autumn fixture on the running calendar and a highlight in the city’s events calendar.

Each year runners from across the world help to raise money for race organisers Barnardos and other charities.

Executive Member for Sport, Culture and Leisure, Cllr Nigel Howells, said: “I would like to wish everyone who is taking part good luck and hope all their hard work and training pays off when they reach the finish line.”

”The race continues to go from strength to strength and is very popular with runners. Take up rises each year, from 1,500 in 2003 to 7,750 last year. The race is a great opportunity to showcase the city and provides a boost to the local economy.”
