Gwynedd’s sporting boost

Ten of Gwynedd’s sports clubs and organisations are celebrating after securing a total of more than £9,000 from the Gwynedd Community Chest Fund.

A range of the county’s sports organisations from Nordic walking groups and squash clubs to youth football teams and basketball clubs have received funding as part of the fund designed to encourage more people to take part in physical activities. Through the Gwynedd Community Chest Fund, sporting clubs and organisations can claim up to £1,500 with help available to buy new equipment and to pay for coaching qualifications.

Sally Lloyd-Davies, Chair of the Gwynedd Community Chest Panel:

“I’m delighted that that Gwynedd Council has been able to allocate £9,330 to a wide-range of sporting organisations throughout the county. These community groups on a grassroots level make a real contribution in the work of encouraging more people to take part in sport and to keep fit.

“I would encourage any of Gwynedd’s sport club and other organisations with a sporting interest to make the most of the support that’s available. Contact Gwynedd Council’s Sport Development team if your club want to find out more about applying for funding as part of the Gwynedd Community Chest Fund.”
