Gwynedd Community Chest boost for sports

A wide variety of sports clubs in Gwynedd have had a cash boost in the latest round of Community Chest funding awards.

Following a last meeting of the Community Chest panel on July 16, a total of over £7,000 will go towards promoting football, rugby, swimming, golf, volleyball and basketball in the county.

  • Harlech Swimming Club have had £1,298 to help the club qualify two members on a coaching course and to buy team management software
  • Llanberis Youth Club have got £681.41 to buy equipment to offer volleyball and basket in addition to other games for members
  • Dolgellau Athletic Amateur FC have had £933.60 to go towards buying new football goals for the club’s under 9, under 11 and under 12 team in order to ensure safe facilities for children.
  • Dolgellau Old Grammarians RFC have been given £1,500 to send a number of volunteers on coaching courses to maintain the club’s education programme
  • Dyffryn Nantlle Football Club have been awarded £1,190 to enable the club to send their coaches on First Aid, Child Welfare and Football Leaders courses
  • Pwllheli Golf Club have received £1,425 to provide more opportunities for women at the club.

“We are proud to see Gwynedd Community Chest continuing to support so many sports clubs and organistations in Gwynedd,” said David Lloyd-Williams, Gwynedd Council’s Sports Development Officer.
