Gwynedd Council Elects Chairman

Councillor Dilwyn Morgan (vice-chairman), Councillor Dyfed Edwards (Council Leader) and Councillor Dewi Owen (chairman)

In the annual Gwynedd Council meeting on 1 May, Councillor Dewi Owen (Aberdyfi) was elected Chairman and Councillor Dilwyn Morgan (Y Bala) as Vice-Chair.
 
A Gwynedd Councillor since 2008, Councillor Dewi Owen is a former Chairman of Aberdyfi Community Council.

Councillor Owen is a father of three daughters and he and his wife Meinir farm at Esgairgyfela, Aberdyfi. He also runs a butcher’s shop at Aberdyfi in partnership with his son in law. He is also a keen member of the Farmers’ Union of Wales.

When elected as Gwynedd Council Chairman, Councillor Owen said:

“It is an honour and privilege to be elected as Gwynedd Council Chairman. I will do my best to serve Gwynedd’s residents during my term of office by promoting the work of the Council.”

Councillor Dilwyn Morgan (Y Bala) was elected as Vice-Chair. He has been a member of Gwynedd Council since 2012.
