Gwynedd hosts national events conference

Gwynedd will play host to a prestigious all-Wales conference for event organisers and suppliers.

The two-day National Outdoor Events Association (NOEA) event held at the Faenol Estate on 19 to 20 April is a must anyone involved in organising or staging events.

The NOEA Wales National Conference held in association with Gwynedd Council and the Welsh Assembly Government will provide a wealth of information, advice and support to all of those people who are involved in the process of staging outdoor events in Wales.

Sioned Williams, Gwynedd Council’s Head of Economy and Community said:

“The Faenol Estate – the location for this year’s Radio 1s Big Weekend is a perfect location for such a prestigious conference. We are very pleased to welcome the NOEA once again to Gwynedd and look forward to a wonderful and informative two day conference. We are currently in negotiations to make this an annual national conference.”

The conference will start at 2pm on Monday, 19 April with a session on Events and the Statutory Services Health chaired by Kelvin Pye the Secretary of the North Wales Events Group this will be followed by two workshops on marketing and creating a financial plan for your event

The highlights of the following day will be a keynote address by Arthur Emyr, Head of the Assembly Government’s Major Events Unit who will give an overview of the Assembly Government’s National Strategy for Events. There will be an opportunity to hear how Wales is benefiting from the London 2012 Olympics and how the plans are falling into place with the Ryder Cup which will take Place in Wales in September 2010.

There will also be an opportunity to hear from Jason Carter and Paul Cookfrom the BBC Radio 1 Big Weekend team and Mark Durnston from the highly successful Wakestock event held annually in Abersoch. Jon Payne a Lawyer from Horsey Flynn Lightly will give his own unique, amusing but informative overview of the Licensing Law. The conference will be chaired by Marian Wyn Jones the former head of the BBC in north Wales
