An artist has been chosen to create a statue of H M Stanley in his home town of Denbigh.
The H M Stanley Commemorative Group awarded the commission to Nick Elphick, a local sculptor from Llandudno.
Nick will be creating a statue of H M Stanley who hailed from the town and famously went on to become an accomplished explorer and politician.
The overall standard was high and the final three selected artists had submitted similar concepts. The comments following a public display of the three short listed were also positive for a commemoration of HM Stanley but also confirmed a preference for Nick Elphick.
A meeting of the group will now be held on 23 June at the Denbigh Town Council Chambers whereby Nick Elphick will attend to discuss the details of his proposals and for detailed designs so that the project can move forward.
