Hands-on art for free at Pontypool museum

There are two exciting, free, hands-on arts events at Pontypool Museum in May.

A workshop for the over 50’s is being run daily from May 18-22 from 10am-3.30pm. This three day event will help you to design and construct your own memory box from photographic images and text.

The workshop is being tutored by photographic artist Roger Polley, whose work can be seen on display in the museum. Sort through your photos and see what memories you might like to include.

This free event is being sponsored by Gwanwyn. Booking is essential as places are limited.

The second event – part of Adult Learners Week – consists of two drop-in sessions on Japanware decoration. They are being held on Tuesday, May 25 from 10am-3pm and on Saturday, May 29,  2-4pm. The tutor is Jill Hobbs, a well known local artist.

Why not pop along and have fun decorating a Japanware style container, spoon or picture? These events are part of the Torfaen Learning Festival, sponsored by niace dysgu cymru and European Social Fund Welsh Assembly Government funding.
